Layout selector
Open Switch Layout… from the menu or a shortcut. Arrow keys move focus; Return applies the focused layout, the same as a click.
Backup and restore
Export layouts and preferences to a JSON file on this Mac. Restore Settings… shows a schematic of each layout before replacing live config.
Move to next display
Send the front window to the next monitor from the menu or an optional shortcut. Relative size and placement stay the same.
Delete a layout
Remove a named layout from the Zone Editor. Confirm first. The last layout on a display cannot be deleted.
Cycle layouts
Next Layout and Previous Layout step the Active Layout on the monitor under the pointer. A brief overlay shows the new name, then dismisses.
Grid presets
Apply Two columns, Two rows, 2×2, Left third, or Three columns in the Zone Editor, then Save when it looks right.
Automatic updates
Check for Updates… installs a newer published build in the app. The first install remains a download from this site.

Create a layout
Open the editor and define zones that match how you work.

Pick a window
Grab a window, then use the configured single-zone or multi-zone snapping shortcuts to start snapping.

Snap into a zone
Drop into a zone — aligned and sized exactly as you planned.

Move to a chosen display
A status-menu submenu lists connected monitors by name and sends the front window to the selected display. Move to Next Display remains for cycling left to right.

Snap Window…
Place the front window into a zone of the Active Layout from the menu or an optional shortcut. Click a cell or press Return. Escape leaves the window where it is.

Undo Last Snap
Restore the last successfully snapped window to the size and place it had before that snap. One step. Disabled if that window is gone.

Pause Snapping
Stop the zone overlay while you drag, without quitting. Switch Layout and Move to Next Display still work. Turn it off when you want to snap again.

Ignore apps
Pick apps in Preferences that never show zones and never snap. Everything else behaves as today.

Copy layout to another display
In the Zone Editor, copy the grid you see onto another connected monitor as a new layout. The source display stays unchanged.

Install
Download the DMG, drag SnappyZones to Applications, and open it.

Grant permissions
Turn on this SnappyZones under Accessibility, then Input Monitoring. After an update the old row is removed; this copy appears Off until you enable it.

Create a layout
Open Zone Editor from the menu. Pick a Preset… or draw splits, name the layout, then Save.

Snap
Hold ⌘ and drag a window onto a zone. Hold ⌘⇧ for several zones. Optional: Switch Layout, Next Layout, Move to Next Display, Backup.

Frequently asked questions
Why does SnappyZones request Accessibility permission?
SnappyZones needs Accessibility access to move and resize windows reliably. This is a standard requirement for window management apps on macOS.
Is my data collected or sent anywhere?
No. The marketing site is static, and the app aims to work locally without accounts.
How do I update to a new version?
Use Check for Updates… in the SnappyZones menu. The first install is still this site’s DMG.
How do I get started?
Open Quick Start… from the SnappyZones menu, or follow Quick Start on this page: install, grant permissions, create a layout, then snap.
How do I switch layouts without opening the selector?
Use Next Layout or Previous Layout in the menu, or record those shortcuts in Preferences. They wrap on the monitor under the pointer and do nothing if only one layout exists.
How do I delete a layout?
Open the Zone Editor, choose the layout, click Delete, and confirm. The last layout on a display cannot be deleted.
After an update, should I delete SnappyZones from Privacy settings?
No. SnappyZones removes the old row and lists this copy as Off. Turn that row On. You do not delete the app and add it again.
How do I unlock Pro?
Buy Pro on this site (or paste a license key in License…). Layouts stay on this Mac. License checks are the only extra network besides updates.
